Mixed media art celebrating and encouraging freedom in various forms.
The woman in the art piece is moving towards freedom, the cage door is open and she is looking to the free birds, the imagery and text are encouraging her to grasp her freedom. The swirling plant like decorations on the frame and white circles / dots depict growth, development and peace – all the good things to come to this woman as she moves further into freedom.
Freedom can be physical, spiritual and emotional / psychological; it often involves bravery and fear can hold people back and keep them ‘locked up’. Just like captive birds that stay inside open cages instead of enjoying their freedom; we can do sometimes do the same in areas of our lives, as shown in this piece.
“The only real prison is fear, and the only real freedom is freedom from fear” – Aung San Suu Kyi
